NCPRD Receives $1M Grant from Metro for New Park in Jennings Lodge
Date: Jul 30, 2025
Clackamas, Ore. – North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) has been awarded a $1,000,000 Nature in Neighborhoods Capital grant from Metro to support the development of a new park in the Jennings Lodge community.
In collaboration with the Oregon City School District, NCPRD plans to transform an underutilized section of the Jennings Lodge Campus into a 1.9-acre neighborhood park. This project will enhance access to nature and play amenities in a park-deficient area of the District. The park's design will feature an expansive tree canopy and meadow, a versatile lawn area, a network of walking pathways, and two nature-inspired playgrounds designed for children of all ages and abilities.
The estimated total cost of the park project is $2.5 million. Once the project is fully funded, construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2026. For more information on the project, visit ncprd.org/current-projects.
Metro’s Nature in Neighborhoods grants support community projects and programs across the region, from local park improvements to stream restoration to hands-on nature education for people of all ages and backgrounds. The grants can also go to projects that increase people’s experience of nature in their neighborhoods, with an emphasis on benefitting historically marginalized communities. The Park at the Jennings Lodge Campus Project was one of 12 parks and nature projects chosen from across greater Portland.
