What We Do

Building the Future of Parks & Recreation

NCPRD’s Planning and Development staff is dedicated to creating a vibrant future for our community. By acquiring park land, developing parks, trails, and natural areas, and managing recreational facilities, we help to meet the needs of the district today while also planning for the future.

Your Voice, Our Plans

We believe great parks and trails come from active community participation. NCPRD partners with residents and regional stakeholders to design and develop parks that meet the needs of our diverse community. We implement a variety of community engagement tools designed for varying levels of participation, including open houses, surveys, focus groups, and charrettes – just to name a few. We are committed to providing authentic, transparent, inclusive, and equitable engagement processes.

Capital Projects Planning
Rooted in the priorities established through our long-range plans, our capital projects implement that community vision through new or improved parks, trails, natural areas, and recreational facilities.

Guided by the Parks & Recreation System Plan

This comprehensive plan serves as a 20-year roadmap for future growth and improvements across our parks, trails, and recreational facilities. NCPRD is currently updating our System Plan, with a completed Plan anticipated in summer 2025.
