Certification Process

Step 1: Complete Training
Attend 27 hours of lifeguard training that includes water rescue, CPR, and first aid.
Step 2: Pass the Pre-Requisites
Successfully swim 150 yards, tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms then swim additional 50 yards, and complete 10 lb. brick retrieval swim.
Step 3: Final Certification
Pass written and practical exams to receive your lifeguard certification.

Lifeguard Training FAQ

Applicants must be at least 15 years old to enroll. Pre-requisite skills include swimming 150 yards and completing a timed swim test within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Swim goggles are not allowed during evaluations.

Enroll in lifeguard training by completing the online application. Make sure to bring proof of age and your swim test results on the first day of training.

Lifeguard training costs $49. Classes begin on the first Monday of each month.
