Spring Park

Located alongside the beautiful Willamette River, Spring Park Natural Area is a serene oasis tucked away in a quiet Milwaukie neighborhood. As you enter the park, you'll be greeted by a small playground, picnic benches, bike racks and art features—perfect for a leisurely day outdoors. The park features a winding trail, with segments made of compacted crushed rock and boardwalk, that gives visitors access to the surrounding wetlands without disturbing the sensitive habitat and wildlife.
Stroll through lush, shaded areas and take advantage of the scenic overlooks where you can soak in the beauty of native plants and animals. This spot is particularly fantastic for birdwatching, so don’t forget your binoculars! At the trail's end, you'll find a seasonal land bridge that leads to Elk Rock Island, managed by the City of Milwaukie. This rocky passage is accessible when water levels are low, making for an adventurous trip to the island.
Just keep in mind that water levels can change due to the time of year, weather, and tides in the river, which may sometimes cut off access to the land bridge. Always be cautious and check the Willamette River tide times to ensure a safe visit.
